Abstract
Compilers currently place data objects at memory addresses that are determined by the order of the declarations of the data objects. Experiments confirm that cache misses can be reduced by rearranging the order of data objects, reducing conflict misses, and by aligning array objects on cache line boundaries, reducing compulsory misses slightly.
